She discovered Furry Friends and was excited to become a volunteer. It has been rewarding to give to the community, and her dogs always have fun greeting people at the visits. Witnessing the joy and connection that is created with all of the people whose lives Furry Friends and the pets touch has been amazing.  Elizabeth wanted to become even more involved with Furry Friends and enjoys being a member of the Furry Friends board.

In her spare time Elizabeth is involved in dog training, dog sports, and spending time visiting family in Lake Tahoe, where her dogs love to swim, hike, and are sometimes mistaken for bears.

  • Grace Mittelstaedt, Board Member

Grace grew up in Indiana and moved to the Bay Area in 2016 after graduating from the University of Notre Dame. Grace’s family has always had English Setters, so it was no surprise when she got one of her own in 2018. Grace’s dog, Cooper, is actually distantly related to her family’s last setter, so they look very similar with the dark face and white forehead patch. Grace and Cooper have been volunteers with Furry Friends since October 2019. They did a few visits at assisted living homes before Covid hit. In June 2022, Cooper passed the class for Reading Buddies, so most of their time is dedicated toward attending 2-3 Reading Buddies visits each month. Outside of work and volunteering, you’ll find Grace baking and painting pottery, with Coop right by her side as she does everything.
